Such a lovely, mature and well spoken young woman. Also an exceptional actor

I went to this movie expecting something truly exceptional, given the multitude of fawning reviews over it. I was profoundly disappointed. This film is so inferior to the 1994 adaptation of the novel that it would be laughable but for all the fawning reviews that lend to this film a misleading impression of great merit.
In her attempt to produce a "hip" retelling of the novel, Gerwig completely trashes it. Her overtly political, in-your-face script loses all the nuance that makes Alcott's novel both powerful and timeless. Gerwigs hits you over the head with a sledgehammer of feminist tropes while eschewing the complexity and richness of treatment that lies at the core of the Alcott novel.
It does not help that the script utterly fails to develop any of the romantic relationships. Friedrich (who, inexplicably, has a French accent) pops up at the end for a romantic liason with Jo that comes out of nowhere. Meg's and Amy's relationships are similarly bereft of developed foundation. This may in part be explained by Gerwig's affected contrivance of telling the story through a mishmash of flashbacks that leave one's head spinning as to where in the world we are and what time frame we are in. It is an abject failure as a plot device.
On top of all this, the film is poorly cast. The actors who play Meg and Jo regularly break into their native British accents, destroying any illusion of authenticity. The male characters are especially weak. Timothee Chalamet is just not credible as Laurie, while the aforementioned Friedrich would have been a little more believable had he at least been given a German accent. The actor is also far too young to play the middle-aged character of the novel. Laura Dern fails to impress as Marmee, though her performance is also hampered by Gerwig's wince-inducing script. The only actor who comes across well is Saoirse Ronan, but even she is let down by the screenplay.
Anyone interested in a proper adaptation of the novel should watch the 1994 version instead. It may not be "hip" but it sure has substance that this film lacks.

I just sat with my mom in a theater full of women and we all smiled, laughed, and boo-hooed through the whole movie. They take the classic story and tell it in a new and unexpected (and delightful) way. This captured what so many versions fail to capture which is the CHARM of the March sisters and Marmee and Laurie and Mr. Lawrence and all the characters we know and love! When I saw the trailer I wasn't sure it would really capture it, and I wasn't immediately thrilled by the choices of cast, but the movie was a joy to sit through and the cast was perfect!

Where can v watch dis movie. All of the small details are what I absolutely adore about Gretas adaptation of Little Women. During the show, Laurie offers a loving glance toward Jo. However, she is much too engrossed in the show and theatrics than in Laurie because she cant bring herself to love him. When Mr. Brooke looks at Meg, she immediately notices and turns to look back at him because he is what she notices most, not the play.

Guys lets be real mushu isnt here cause hes with Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Saving countless worlds fighting the heartless. This scene is going to be incredible in the live action remake. I clearly remember watching this in theaters as a six year old and remember thinking how incredible it was. Amazing. Can yall quit complaining about no mushu, no Li Shang, and no songs. Yes I love them too, and yes imma miss them but your annoying complaining saying that the movie will be trash is the real upsetting part. You havent even watched the god damn thing and clearly theyre trying to be more true to the ballad of Mulan and the Chinese culture rather than the 1998 Mulan.

Removable hood Hidden front buttons 55% Cotton, 45% Polyester RETAIL: $129 / PURCHASE: $99 TLDR; Recommend using for light to moderate-light rainfall for short periods of time, with additional layers for warmth. Blocked the rain for the first few hours, but started some water absorption afterwards. Good at blocking wind. Minimal warmth. SCENARIO: Walking a mile to and from a concert during frequent but sporadic light to moderate-light rainfall, with some wind. At the concert, stood under open sky for roughly 4 hours of the same weather. PERFORMANCE WIND - Whatever warmth is gained from wearing the Uniqlo Blocktech coat is from blocking the cold wind. For warmth, I wore a thick hoodie with a quick drying base layer underneath. The coat excelled at blocking the wind. My unprotected bottom half could feel the cold wind blowing through my pants. My top block covered by the coat felt nothing when the wind blew. DWR - At the beginning, the DWR performed well, with raindrops beading off the shell. However, although the rain wasn't heavy, the duration the Uniqlo Blocktech coat was exposed eventually led to water being absorbed. The coat interior showed dark areas where water absorption was happening. Water absorption was minimal though and mainly on my upper back, shoulders, and sleeves. I say the water absorption was minimal, since the hoodie didn't appear to be wet. AESTHETIC: I appreciate the minimalist design. The zipper and buttons are hidden, adding to the sleek and modern appearance. I'd even say it is similar to Arc'teryx Veilance at a casual glance in terms of aesthetics. However, the Uniqlo Blocktech coat is a simpler cut, where the minimalism may cause it to look plain and boring. Which has the benefit of making it suitable for business attire. OVERALL: I enjoy wearing the Uniqlo Blocktech coat and it has become my staple workhorse for the recent cold and wet weather. I'm able to use it both for business and casual use. I originally purchased the coat last year, but wasn't able to wear it much since it arrived when the weather was already too warm to wear it. Now that I'm able, I find it very versatile and appropriate for my lifestyle. I don't recommend wearing this coat for a long period of time during heavy rain, as I believe it will eventually soak through. For brief periods in rain showers with some layers for warmth, the Uniqlo Blocktech coat would be a good choice.

But still, this was a new horror movie, and being a life-long avid horror afficianado, of course I took the time to sit down and watch "Dark Light.
Turns out that it was actually time, money and effort well invested, because "Dark Light" turned out to be a rather enjoyable horror movie. What really worked was the way that director Padraig Reynolds had managed to capture the essence of the horror movies that I grew up with during the late 1980s and early 1990s. So this felt very much like a trip down memory lane for me.
While the storyline was generic; especially for someone like myself having grown up watching just about every single horror movie that I could manage to get my hands on, then there was just something essentially right about this movie.
The creature design was definitely interesting, and something that you haven't really seen in other movies. I will not ruin anything here and give anything away, you just have to watch it for yourself.
As for the acting in the movie, well of course you shouldn't be expecting any award-winning performances here, because the movie is not driven by character performances. Don't get me wrong here, because I will say that the acting in the movie was good.
My rating of "Dark Light" is a six out of ten stars.

'The Gentlemen (2020) is fine, consistently engaging and occasionally quite fun. It does have a plethora of problems, though. First of all, it's never quite clear just who we're supposed to be rooting for. This doesn't feel intentional and seems to be the result of its odd, flashback-based structure. There isn't a great sense of escalation and the pace remains mostly consistent. The narrative doesn't catch up with itself until far too late and, even then, it's annoying how most of the story is told via narrated exposition to someone apparently directly involved with most of its events. Secondly, the flick is simply an amalgamation of genre tropes and stock characters, almost exactly what you expect from a Guy Ritchie movie that isn't 'Aladdin (2019. The characters aren't really given the time necessary to develop properly; they're always walking stereotypes. Some of them even seem like stand-ins for the director himself, with talk of "proper cinema" and references to films like 'The Conversation (1973) being "a bit boring. Finally, the flick is kind of racist. Almost every character makes some kind of racist remark, mainly against members of Asian and Black communities, and it's often used for supposed 'humour. The worst offence is probably when a major character says another has a 'black heart' while specifically referencing race. The flick's treatment of women isn't much better, with the only female character coming under the threat of rape just so she can be violently saved by a white man. It all feels outdated, like someone scrambling against apparent 'PC gone mad. Plus, a lot of time is strangely spent trying to justify its problematic elements; characters have discussions about whether or not certain racist remarks are actually racist. All of this results in an affair that only sours with time, staying in your mind just long enough for you to consider its faults and then slipping away into complete obscurity. It's really forgettable, probably because it's so generic. It's not terrible, though. As I mentioned, it's often quite enjoyable and it's always engaging. Hugh Grant's scene-stealing performance is a real highlight, too. It's messy and misjudged but it's entertaining enough to keep you in your seat. 5/10.

I made some comments on your last post, I didn't even think to ask about your battery percentage. if you're in the 90% range and have half a km downhill that's Moderately steep there's a decent change you'll hit full charge on the battery and the BMS will shut it off. Since there's no physical brakes on the boards, it breaks by taking the kinetic energy and using the motors as little generators to feed the battery, but once it's fully charged, there's nowhere for that energy to go, and since energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it won't work, and the BMS shuts it off to avoid frying the battery. It seems that if you went up and down a few times you shouldn't have had an issue, as it's not 100% efficient so you'd be losing battery gradually, but you never know. It Seems likely that this was the case, but If it happens again on a flat surface or uphill then check with boosted again as its not that issue. As for charging to 90% then going downhill, yes you'll eventually charge your battery. I once had about a quarter mile super steep hill and forgot my charger, so my brother drive me up to the top like 7 times and I charged my board from like 10 to 98%.

Downhill mountain biking. This is going to sound dumb but after lurking here for a while, I finally took the plunge on my first MTB experience at a downhill park here in NJ. Overall went well, learned a whole lot even on just a few short runs. That being said, the one thing I immediately noticed was the amount of body armor and gear everyone was wearing. Seriously to the point where it looked like a Power Rangers convention. Full body suits, hard (plastic) plated gear, etc. I had purchased some Fox launch pro knee pads prior to going and was initially worried I was under-geared. Guys were wearing more protective gear than I've seen at motocross events. Is this normal? I mean I fell once but it wasn't like I was dressed to dismantle a bomb. For the record, I was wearing knees, elbows, and a full face. I plan on going to another DH park soon and need some elbow pads, should I go with something more hardcore? I am I taking this all too lightly? Or do I go with something like this? Thanks UPDATE: Thanks all, appreciate the input. I wound up purchasing a TLD short sleeve protective shirt and a pair of beefy TLD elbows. I figure this way I’ll have some flexibility. Thanks again!

Free online the gentlemen show. As a regular movie goer, I'll jump to the point and say this: definitely go see The Gentleman. Guy Ritchie nails it with this one. I was roped in, hook, line and sinker from the start and that's what it needed to do. All 113 minutes keeping you attentively sucked into the little twists and turns.
Usually it doesn't take much to annoy me when it comes to narration, but this is a story - and a story told well. It's clever, it keeps pace, it doesn't stop. And it was more than I expected. Where it succeeds is holding you captive to the wonderment of anticipating every characters' next move on the plot chessboard that unfolds before you.
The acting is great; I can't fault anyone in performance or their placement in their roles. Putting this film I am just stubbornly refusing to give it the perfect 10 in my assessment as a 9. but it's just shy of being a modern theatrical masterpiece.
If you get bored, somehow lose it along the way. blame me. But I don't think you'll have regrets giving 113 minutes of your time away for this one.

Morfydd Clark (also at the Festival in The Personal History of David Copperfield) portrays the sanctimonious Maud with an intense stoicism that belies a disquieting vulnerability, as Maud desperately vies for absolution and solidarity from her embittered patient (an enthralling Jennifer Ehle, also at the Festival in Beneath the Blue Suburban Skies). Glass tenderly captures this relationship with an empathetic gaze that first assumes an ethereal, dreamlike atmosphere - but it isn't long before Maud's dogmatic candor incites an irreconcilable friction that spirals her mind into a suffocating confluence of creeping doubt and paranoia. As Glass tightens the screws on her misguided martyr, well-placed nods are made to religious horror forerunners like William Friedkin's The Exorcist, further contributing to the film's increasingly dread-filled malaise. And when this insidious fever climatically breaks, the consequences are devastating and terrifying in equal measure. Rose Glass.

I love a good Horror! Esp paranormal films. Anything to do with ghosts,demons,exorcisms scare me but I love them. When it comes to moves like Hostel, Saw,It and slasher movies I cant do it because I feel its too real in life due to there being real life serial killers out there who do vile things like that. I remember watching Hostel and some Latvians lives across the road, I was terrified to go anywhere near them or talk to them incase they drugged me, abducted me and sold me to be tortured. I know ppl from Latvia are not mass murderers who love to torture people in the most vile way ever. My imagination just ran wild due to that movie. As I said I can do ghost stuff but only in daylight or if I have someone with me but I cannot do gore/slasher whatsoever.

Odvjetnik Robert Billott ( Mark Ruffalo) u “Mutnim vodama” preuzima štafetu od Erin Brockovich ili mu je možda ona tu štafetu predala. “Prava” Brockovich je izrazila podršku Billottu i njegovu filmu “Dark Waters”, pojavivši se na protestu protiv toksičnih, sintetičkih kemikalija koje su povezane sa šest vrsta bolesti, uključujući razne tipove raka, a nalaze se u krvotoku 99 posto Amerikanaca i “nije ih briga jeste li crni ili bijeli, bogati ili siromašni”. “Moramo zaštititi sami sebe od sustava koji se ne zauzima za nas”, poručila je borbena Brockovich na prosvjedu. Ipak, dok je “Erin Brockovich” bila nominirana za pet Oscara i potvrdila zlatni kipić za titularnu žensku ulogu Julije Roberts, “Mutne vode” su prošle ispod radara američke Akademije i ostale bez ijedne nominacije, iako zaslužuju biti u glavnoj kategoriji ispred barem jednog filma. Na strani Haynesova uratka su i kvaliteta i pravodobnost. Temeljen na članku novinara “New York Timesa” Nathaniela Richa, naslovljenom “Odvjetnik koji je postao najveća DuPontova noćna mora”, “Dark Waters” se čini danas još važnijim i potrebnijim filmom nego što je onda bila “Erin Brockovich”. Nije to samo stoga što smo u međuvremenu odrasli i postali stariji i mudriji za 20 godina, već i što je danas sve više svjesnog nemara i korupcije u korporativnom kapitalizmu, o čemu govore “Mutne vode”. Istinita priča po kojoj je snimljen Haynesov film posjeduje veću širinu dokumentiranog užasa na djelu u odnosu na Soderberghovu “Erin Brockovich”, pa i “Cijenu pravde” Stevena Zailliana i “Probuđenu savjest” Michaela Manna. Naime, korijeni kontaminacije nalaze se u teflonu, materijalu koji su mnogi i izvan Amerike koristili ili još koriste u svakodnevom životu, što film čini najstrašnijim, ako ne i najboljim u nizu (to bi prije bio Mannov “The Insider”).  Prava tava i užas. Haynes je toga svjestan pa otvara “Dark Waters” kao horor tipa “Friday The 13th”. U uvodnoj sekvenciji “Mutnih voda”, ambijentiranoj u Zapadnu Virginiju 1975., neki pripiti tinejdžeri se dolaze okupati u nekakvom jezeru. Jasona Voorheesa s mačetom nema na vidiku, a jezero nije Kristalno (Crystal Lake) ili bar ne kristalno čisto. Ima, zato, nekih sumnjivih tipova u čamcu koji ispuštaju nešto u vodu. Nešto što će dvadesetak godina kasnije lokalne ljude i životinje pretvoriti gotovo u mutante.  Otprilike tada, 1998., Wilbur Tennant ( Bill Camp), farmer iz Parkersburga, Zapadna Virginija, kontaktira Billotta, odvjetnika za okoliš iz odvjetničkog društva Taft u Cincinattiju, država Ohio. Tennant se poziva na poznanstvo s Billottovom bakom i skreće mu pažnju na neregulirano odlagalište otpada, s kemikalijama umjesto smeća. Njegov posjed graniči s odlagalištem jedne od najcjenjenijih kemijskih kompanija DuPont. Kvaka je da Billott zastupa kemijske kompanije preko odvjetničkog društva Taft, uključujući i DuPont, no ipak pristaje saslušati Tennanta, emotivno investiran u slučaj zbog bake i rodne grude. Ovaj ispriča da mu krave i telad obolijevaju (crni zubi, uvrnuto kopito, tumori na leđima), a izgubio ih je već 190. Ne samo to - životinje koje mu jele iz ruke sada nasrću na njega, sve zbog DuPontove tvornice, odnosno njezina tvorničkog otpada. Odvjetnik uviđa razmjere kad pogleda videa sa smetnjama nalik japanskom hororu i doživi nasrtaj krave na Tennanta pred svojim očima, ali i ubrzo shvaća da kemikalije nemaju samo trajan efekt na životinje, nego i ljude, čitavu zajednicu. DuPont dobrih 40 godina svjesno truje narod uz slogane poput “Bolji život uz kemiju”, koji “nisu samo slogani”, već i njegov “DNK”, kako tvrdi direktor Phil Donnelly ( Victor Garber). Nusprodukt tog “boljeg života uz kemiju” je PFOA ili C8, dugolančani flourougljik, sintetička, umjetna kemikalija, svojevrsni “frankenštajn” koji se upotrebljavao za tenkove u Drugom svjetskom ratu, a onda ga je DuPont preselio s bojišta u domove i koristio kao neprijanjajući premaz za “sretne tave”. Radnici koji su radili na teflonu su oboljeli, kao i neki potrošači, ali teflon je DuPontu godišnje donosio milijardu dolara čistog profita da bi ga povukao s tržišta, uslijed čega je kao “kemijski div” uspijevao zamesti tragove i to zataškati, među ostalim ispuštanjem toksičnog taloga u zrak i vodu. Kad je Billott otkrio alarmantne podatke i opasnost za javno zdravlje (kemikalija sporo napušta krvotok osobe koja joj je izložena i taloži se u tijelu), otvoreno je stao na stranu malog čovjeka i prestao biti “jedan od njih”, spreman “odbaciti karijeru radi nekog kauboja”. U tom trenutku “Dark Waters” se pretvara u dramsko - trilersku kombinaciju detekcije i novinarstva, odnosno “zviždačkih” filmova poput gorenavedenih, “Spotlighta” i nedavnog “The Reporta”, s daškom pesimistične paranoidnosti Pakulinih klasika sedamdesetih, koji ukazuju na koruptivnost i kvarnost ovog ili onog sistema. “Sustav je namješten, žele pokazati svijetu da od borbe nema koristi”, govori Billott, koji će često boraviti u ostavi okružen destinama, možda i stotinama kutija s dokumentima za iščitavanje i pronalaženje dokazna materijala. “Ni milijun godina nije dovoljno da prođeš sve ovo”, opaža kolegica Carla ( Louisa Krause). “Na to i računaju”, dobro znade Billott, kojeg Ruffalo tumači kao običnog junaka, ne stripovskog superheroja (Hulk), ali ne posustaje u istrajnosti oko slučaja koji se protegao na više od deset godina. Protok vremena u borbi protiv korporativnih vjetrenjača osjeti se na satravenim likovima i u sporijem ritmu filma kojem se Haynes priklanja, a ekvivalentan je (Billottovu) pokretanju Windowsa 98 na prijelazu milenija. Naoko Haynes nije pravi redatelj za ovakav tip ostvarenja (“Daleko od raja”, “Nema me”, “Carol”, “Muzej čudesa”) ali dobro se snašao u njemu. Osim što poslovično dobro vodi glumce, i oskarovki Hathaway u nezahvalnoj ulozi Billottove supruge Sarah daje najmanje jednu snažnu scenu na tragu Claire Foy u “Prvom čovjeku”, Haynes je uz pomoć direktora fotografije Edwarda Lachmana kreirao vizualni ugođaj s olovnim bojama bolesti ili oboljenja (dominiraju siva, zelena i smeđa) i ironično iskoristio himničnu “Take Me Home, Country Roads” Johna Denvera. Count Dark Waters as being placed in that elite genre which describes a lone (ironically) corporate lawyer who takes on chemical giant DuPont.
In this semi-documentary dramatic work, the case against DuPont in poisoning the water, land and air in and near its facilities- and extensively throughout the world- is overwhelmingly strong. One thread going through my mind while watching Dark Waters is how DuPont will react to this onslaught of evidence against them (Apparently, according one PBS article, the company has a lot of "legal folks" looking into this movie, but it doesn't want to drive more attention to the story. br> It's tough to make a several-year span lawyerly-driven movie ultra-exciting, but the M.M. Carnahan script provides enough visual stimuli (like the massive document discovery provided by DuPont that fills a large room) to move the story forward. Mark Ruffalo's steady demeanor is countered by Anne Hathaway's occasionally over the top histrionics that show the emotional toll one man was undergoing in his battle against DuPont.
Well worth your while to know how much PFOA's (via Teflon, etc) we all are carrying inside of us because of DuPont's lack of honesty.

The movie is among the best of tense thrillers (think: John Grisham The Firm) only that it is actually a real life story about the unbelievable crimes Dupont did to the American People & how they tried to cover for decades the fact that 99% of people nowadays have at least traces of their toxic Teflon-chemicals in their body.
This is how entertainment should be: engaging, entertaining & telling an important story in a time of civic society uprise against corporate coruption. The atmosphere is tight, the film never slows down and Mark Ruffalo & Tim Robbins bring us honest & wonderful portrayals of their characters!
10/10 Must see & worthy of (at least one) Oscar.
