Zabeleeno je da su Srbi morali da pristanu da Evdokija bude učesnica najviše vlasti u Raškoj kao što su bile avguste u Vizantiji. Međutim, svakom je jasno da, kao i razlog za sklapanje ovog braka, i razlog za razvod treba traiti u političkim okolnostima. U to doba Stefan je na kratko bio zbačen sa vlasti od strane brata Vukana koji se oslanjao na Mađare i katoličke krugove, pa je eleo da se i sam okrene zapadu. Evdokija mu više nije bila potrebna, jer su ugled i moć Vizantije naglo opadali i princeza s Bosfora bila je samo smetnja za nove odnose sa Latinima. Evdokija se vratila u Carigrad gde je njen otac u to vreme bio car. Udala za Aleksija V Duku Murzulufa, svog rođaka i bivšeg cara koji se oštro sukobio sa njenim ocem, po čijem je naređenju i oslepljen. Posle manje od godinu dana, njenog mua ubili su Latini, a ona se udala i treći put - za Lava Zgura, gospodara Nauplije, Argosa i Korinta. Zgur je izvršio samoubistvo nakon što su ga Latini opseli u korintskoj tvrđavi, a Evdokija je nakon toga otišla u Malu Aziju svojoj sestri Ani... Preminula je oko 1211. godine.
